The custom of bursting crackers has become a significant part of Diwali celebrations. For most of us Diwali is synonymous to a night of crackers, noise and smoke. We scare birds, shorten lives of children engaged in cracker factories and burn thousands of rupees to ashes! Loud noise of crackers causes hearing loss, high blood pressure, heart attack and sleeping disturbances. Sudden exposure to loud noise could cause temporary deafness or permanent relative deafness.
But Diwali is a festival of light and happiness... Not only for us but others too....
This diwali light your hearts with happiness and pollution free environment...
Lighting up houses with scented candles, decorative diyas and eco-friendly earthen lamps can be a good and smart idea especially during these times of economic recession. If you are indeed keen on sending your money up in smoke, visit an orphanage instead, with your kids and gift them something special this Diwali!!!! The joy of giving and spreading light will fill you and your family with an inner peace that is more powerful than the sound of the "10000 Ladi".
If not, then here is how we should celebrate Eco-Friendly Diwali:-
1) Opt for low smoke, eco-friendly crackers.
2) Light up your homes with LED lights. They use negligible energy. Also, there is no risk of fire.
3) Use recyclable / reusable decorations. Reduce excess consumerism.
4) Technology has made us forget the importance of personal communication…Visit with a long lost friend/relative!
5) Share your fortunes with the less fortunate. Even the stuff you throw out after cleaning your house is a good start!
6) Gift ‘saplings’ and sweets.
7) Save electricity – use the traditional method of lighting Oil Diyas.
This diwali be a source of happiness and safety for others..
Give others happiness, not burns...
THIS DIWALI I HAVE OPTED NOT TO BURN CRACKERS... THIS IS MY INITIATIVE TO SAVE MY ENVIRONMENT AND MOTHER EARTH... ARE YOU WITH ME..??
